We provide an easy to use platform for clients to remotely monitor their Windows servers and other network devices 24 x 7 from any web browser anywhere in the World. It takes 5 minutes to set up and can cost as little as 50p per day to remotely monitor a server 24 x 7

You can view our demo servers live through this online demonstration of 'Server and network device monitoring'

For this demo, we are using 2 servers based at our Chippenham office. One is a small departmental server with no faults, 'SC-DATA1', and the other one has a lot of deliberate faults, 'DEMO'

Embedded in Server and network device monitoring is an asset tool capable of fully auditing all of your servers, PCs and laptops. This provides an inventory of all hardware, and licenced or unlicenced software.

We have briefly covered the features of Server and network device monitoring here, however if you would like a full live interactive demonstration please call us on 0845 241 22 66 or email us info@sc-it.co.uk

Server names and specifications:

Click on 'Chippenham' on the left hand menu to display all of the servers at that location, servers with faults are shown with a red cross

At the bottom of the screen you will see all of the health checks on DEMO Faults shown here are the services for WWW publishing and the Print spooler, as well as a timeout on the RAID array

Technical FAQs

Q  How does Server and network device monitoring work?
A  An agent is installed on every device requiring monitoring, the agent then runs as a     Windows service. The agent uses 5Mb of RAM and 2.4Mb of disk space

Q  Which operating systems are supported?
A  Server - Microsoft NT4 or higher. Desktop - Windows 2000 or higher

Q  How much server utilization and LAN / Internet bandwidth is used?
A  The agent barely registers itself within Task Manager on a Windows server, and the     data sent from a monitored server to our central servers is approx 400-600 bytes. The     data is sent every 5 or 15 minutes depending on your SLA requirements (This averages     out at 2.5 and 7.5 minutes for new alerts)

Q  What about security issues?
A  The agent only uses outbound http communications, therefore there is no requirement      for any inbound ports to be open on your network. The agent itself is only accessible      to our Technical staff who have the 'key'

Q  Does the Dashboard require any software?
A  No. The Dashboard runs under Internet Explorer or Firefox, so you can run it from any     Internet enabled PC or from a compatible mobile phone

Q  How much does Server and network device monitoring cost?
A  If your server is already managed by us, we can monitor the server 24 x 7 for as little as     50p per day (a full price list will be sent to you in your sign up email) For a full list of     packages and prices, click here (this link will open a PDF)

    ASSET MANAGEMENT

Click on the 'Asset tracking' tab on the bottom left of the screen and you will be able to track all of the hardware and software details of every scanned device on your network

The menu on the left shows an inventory of our 2 servers, with the results being displayed in the right pane

Reports:

Under the reports menus are 3 reports, Modification Report, Software License Check and Client Inventory Report

Modification Report
Displays all hardware and software changes on your devices over a specified time frame

Software License Check

Displays an inventory of all installed software on all scanned PCs, laptops and servers
Our example here shows 3 red crosses against 3 different packages, this is why
Google, because we have decided to show Google applications such as Picasa and Earth as non approved applications, any machine with these applications installed will be flagged in the report with a red cross
SC monitoring is the software tool used to monitor each server, we have told the asset Manager software that we have only one licenced copy. As it is installed on 2 servers, this has been flagged as a potential breach of copyright
Sophos, again the servers are shown to be running more copies than they are licenced for

Client Inventory

Displays a full hardware inventory of every scanned device on the network
